Chuck Todd of NBC News wrote a piece today in which he accuses Wisconsin governor Scott Walker of "playing with fire" because of what he said -- or did not say -- about the remarks by Rudy Giuliani concerning president Obama's love of America. From the headline, one would think that Walker said something truly terrible, something that would incite riots across the country.
Here is the actual quote from Walker according to Chuck Todd himself: Walker was asked about Giuliani's remarks and said, "Yeah, I mean, the mayor can speak for himself. I'm not going to comment on whether -- what the president thinks or not. He can speak for himself as well. I'll tell you, I love America."
This is "playing with fire"? Really? Why does Walker have an obligation to comment on what Rudy said? The simple answer is that he does not. Todd is just upset that Walker did not take the bait and either support or condemn Rudy. In other words, Walker did not allow the media to drive a wedge between him and part of the GOP.
I hate watching these media games.
