I Didn't Think Obama Could Make Syria Worse, But......................

With a big assist from president Obama's inept foreign policy, the civil war in Syria has devolved into a battle between the murderous war-criminal Assad and his pro-Iranian forces (which include the terror group Hezbollah) on the one side and a rebel "front" of mostly Sunni jihadist groups strongly allied with al Qaeda on the other side.  The large numbers of moderate Syrian nationalists who originally made up the rebel forces have seen their leaders routed and have moved to support the jihadist elements instead.  Things have gotten so bad that less than a week ago, Obama announced that America would no longer provide aid to the rebels (since that aid was likely to be used against American troops in Afghanistan and elsewhere.)  In other words, the situation in Syria was a total disaster from the American viewpoint.

But wait!  In a move that only Obama and the Obamacrats could make, the situation is getting worse.  Today, the Washington Post is reporting the following:

The Obama administration is willing to consider supporting an expanded Syrian rebel coalition that would include Islamist groups, provided the groups are not allied with al-Qaeda and agree to support upcoming peace talks in Geneva, a senior U.S. official said Thursday.

Are they kidding?  America is going to arm Islamist groups, meaning jihadist terrorists, so long as they say they are not allied with al Qaeda and say that they will support peace talks in Geneva?  That is about as idiotic as lifting sanctions on Iran because the Iranians say they won't continue with their nuclear programs.  Oh wait, Obama already did that one.  Maybe someone should embroider a pillow with the saying "Talk is cheap" on it and send it to Obama so that it could be kept in the Oval Office.  Is there anyone out there who doubts that the terror groups will gladly announce that they are not affiliated with al Qaeda and that they do support a Geneva conference.  Is there anyone out there who thinks that when the terrorists say this, they will actually mean it?

When the foreign policy of the United States is to arm terrorists in exchange for a promise of peace, we really have reached the point where, according to the old slogan, the lunatics are running the asylum.  Let's hope we all survive the next three years.
