Remember Bill Elliott? He is the guy who appeared on Megyn Kelly's show on Fox about a month ago to tell his story. Elliott has stage four cancer and his insurance was cancelled by his carrier due to Obamacare regulations. The new policy offered was going to cost him $1500 per month with a higher deductible. Elliott told Kelly that he was going to suspend treatment rather than pay for the new policy and "let nature take its course". Elliott said that his prognosis was poor with treatment, and he did not want to burden his family with the new increased cost for the Obamacare policy.
The story got a lot of headlines around the country. Today, word comes that Elliott is now being audited by the IRS with the notice arriving conveniently two weeks or so after his appearance on Fox News.
We all know that the IRS has become completely political despite the legal requirements that it be impartial. Even so, the idea that the IRS would harass a man with terminal cancer is so repugnant that I wonder if it is really true. What kind of a low life would decide to retaliate against a dying man for telling his story to the press? This story needs to be investigated closely. If it turns out that Elliott is actually being audited, heads should roll at the IRS.
