The Truth About Extending Unemployment Payments

The current barrage of news stories and cries of outrage about whether or not emergency unemployment compensation should be extended for a sixth year is actually nothing more than a ploy by Democrats to distract America from the facts of Obamacare.  Think about it.  There has been no big push to cut unemployment benefits; they were raised temporarily and that increase is expiring.  The two parties have been negotiating in Washington about how to fund the government for the rest of the year, and unemployment benefits have been part of those discussions.  That's it.  Then, with the poll numbers for Obama and his party sinking quickly, we suddenly hear about how essential it is for the unemployment benefits to get extended.  There are columns in the media, statements by Washington Democrats and echoes from the liberal fellow travelers expressing outrage over the failure to extend these benefits.  Republicans are trying to take away unemployment benefits were are told by this group.  In many respects they are saying the equivalent of "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!"  The Obama machine is trying to distract Americans from the terrible damage that Obamacare is inflicting on the country and instead focus on a phony story about unemployment insurance.

This kind of distraction has worked for the Democrats in the past.  Remember the birth control debate of the 2012 presidential election?  There was no one who called for restrictions on the availability of birth control, but the Democrats attacked the Republicans on the subject anyway.  It was a lie, but it was a lie that worked.  So now they are trying to use that playbook again.

Doesn't America deserve some honesty from those in government?  Must we have people in power who are so devoid of personal honor and decency that they use deception as one of their main tools?
