Killing Off Those Expensive Patients

In yet another of the many terrible results of Obamacare, the standard plans offered on the exchanges around the country frequently do not provide enough coverage for expensive drugs to allow the people with insurance to afford them.  This is not the conclusion of some conservative group; it is reported in the Washington Post today.  Let me elaborate:

Many people with chronic illnesses must take medications each day that are extremely expensive.  Some medicines cost $1500 or $2000 per month if bought without insurance.  The plans offered on most of the Obamacare exchanges have high deductibles and, for the majority, payments for drugs only kick in once the deductible has been satisfied.  What that means is that in addition to paying the increased cost for insurance, individuals must also pay out a deductible like $6000 before they get any coverage at all to help them buy medicine.  Someone who earns $30,000 per year is left having to spend something like one third of his or her income before tax on healthcare before the insurance even begins to help.

Let's be clear about this.  The Obamacare insurance basically does not provide a great many folks with any meaningful coverage for medicines.  People with chronic illnesses that require expensive medicines will no longer be able to pay for those remedies.  As a result, they will suffer all the ills that come from untreated illnesses.  Ultimately, the end result will be death.

Remember all the upset when Sarah Palin spoke of death panels in Obamacare?  The supporters of the law were outraged at the suggestion.  Now, the reality of the law is making clear even to the Washington Post that there is no need for the death panels.  The law will work to kill off those pesky folks with chronic illnesses who are not wealthy enough to pay for their own medicines.

One last note here:  this problem with the coverage for prescriptions in the plans is not the result of some obstruction by Obamacare opponents.  No, this horror is the direct and intended result of Obamacare itself.  It is the end product of the law just as Obama and the Obamacrats planned it.  they should be ashamed.
