Now Wedding Dresses are Racist?

The traditional white wedding dress is the latest target of the political correctness police.  Believe it or not, the complaint is that by using the white dress as a symbol of purity, weddings make non-whites feel impure and devalued.  Wedding dresses, we are now told, should be multiple colors so that no one hue is predominant.  In this way, no one race will feel less worthy.  Of course, this raises the issue of whether or not a dress that is red, orange and yellow will make those with other skin tones upset.  Must the dress have colors of all possible skin tones of the wedding guests?  Is that enough?  We cannot forget that there may be color photographs of the wedding party taken and that future viewers of those pictures might be offended in ten or twenty years if the wedding dress is the wrong color.

Then there is the issue of the rest of the bridal party.  The last wedding that I attended had the groomsmen in gray and the bridesmaids in red.  Is that offensive to any racial of ethnic group?  Would it be better to have each member of the bridal party in a different color so that the wedding incorporates as many possible tones as it can?

Have we really reached a point in our country where complaints about the color of wedding dresses have risen to the point where they constitute a real concern?  How did we get here?  When did the PC police get so overwhelmingly powerful that items like wedding dresses began to fall into their purview?

So here is the test:  obviously, this entire post is a fiction.  As far as I know, no one is yet complaining about the use of white wedding dresses.  But what did you think as you read the post?  Were you sure it was wrong?  Did you accept that the forces of political correctness could sink to the level of targeting the color of wedding dresses?  My guess is that most of you accepted the post as real.  It is a mark of just how far our society has sunk that this is the case.  We need to stop kowtowing to leftists who proclaim each month the limits of acceptable speech.  Totalitarianism in the guise of political correctness is still totalitarianism.  No matter what goal the liberals profess to support, their intolerance to those who do not follow their dictates is inappropriate.  The American way of life hangs in the balance.
