Winning by 100 votes

If there were any doubt about the impact that the Obamacare mess is having on the Democrats, today brought the latest poll of the generic vote for Congress.  When asked which party they would vote for Congress if the election were today, likely voters chose the Republicans by a 5% margin over the Democrats (43 to 38%).   This Rasmussen poll which is take weekly had the Democrats up by 7% just six weeks ago at the point where the partial government shutdown ended.  At these numbers, were the election actually held today, the Republicans would control the House by a margin of something like 100 votes.  That would be the biggest Republican margin of control in the House in nearly 90 years.  Numbers like these would also mean likely Republican control of the Senate as well.

Without a doubt, the polls will swing many times between now and election day next November.  Nevertheless, results like the ones in today's poll must be giving Democrats major heartburn.   For the Democrats, the biggest problem is that there is no fix possible for Obamacare.  Oh, the website should improve, but that will only serve to let all of America see the intended results of the Obamacare statute:  the cancelled policies, the increased premiums and deductibles, and the loss of chosen doctors and hospitals.  Even worse, there is unlikely to be much of a decrease in the number of uninsured folks.  As this unfolds over the next year, outrage will increase, not decrease.  As America realizes the perfidy of president Obama and the Democrats in selling this statute with lies, the fortunes of the Democrats will sink, not rise.  For Democrats, it's going to be a bumpy ride!
