Do They or Don't They?

Remember the mantra of 2009?  Every time someone criticized an action being taken by president Obama and the Democrats, we were told that "elections have consequences" or "elections matter".  Criticism of Obama and the Obamacrats was not to be allowed because the American people had spoken and everyone had to obey.  Well, as they say, "that was then, and this is now."  In the last six weeks, we had an election in which the Republicans routed the Democrats to hand that party its worst defeat in roughly 80 years.  Republicans won both houses of Congress, over 60% of the governors, and a large majority of state legislatures.  And what has the response from the Democrats and Obama been?  Have they listened to the verdict of the voters?  In other words do elections really matter to them?  The clear answer has been a resounding NO.

This point has been made extremely well by Stephen Moore in an article in the Weekly Standard.  It is well worth reading.  We all know that Obama acted on immigration despite that action being contrary to the view of most Americans.  There have been other actions by Obama and the Obamacrats since the election in which they basically have told the voters to go to hell.  Nevertheless, when you read the article by Moore, you see the entirety of the actions by the Democrats, and it is truly amazing to see how they clearly do not care what decision the voters made.
