It's Now 24 and Counting

It's not easy to get 24 states to take action in the space of three weeks, but that has now happened.  There are now 24 states that have joined in the lawsuit seeking to enjoin the federal government from following the executive directive of president Obama that illegally changes the immigration laws.

That lawsuit was brought by Texas under the leadership of its attorney general Gregg Abbott (who becomes governor of Texas next month).  The state has already filed a motion for seeking a preliminary injunction.  The case has been assigned to a federal judge who has issued past decisions on immigration matters which were critical of the INS failure to enforce the law, so many expect him to be sympathetic to the position of the states.

It will be interesting to see what happens if Obama loses at the District Court level.  My guess is that he will announce that the case will be appealed and then he will ignore the order of the Court.  After all, if he won't obey the Constitution, why would he listen to some District Court judge?
