It Just Keeps on Coming

Certain things are constants in our world.  One of them which still amazes me is the relentless nature and constant stupidity of American liberals.  Just this morning, I saw two indications of this.

First, we learned in the last day that after a very long investigation done under the auspices of the New Jersey legislature (which is controlled by Democrats), there is no proof at all of any connection between governor Chris Christie and the shutting down of some lanes on the George Washington Bridge.  This just confirms what the previous review had found.  So far, so good, but then the relentlessness and stupidity kick in.  The media reported the results of the investigation, but at the same time ran quotes from people who said that "obviously" Christie knew more than he is letting on.  Then we get told that the investigation is continuing.  In other words, even after doing a second investigation and finding nothing usable against Christie, the libs are still going to push the story that he was involved.  The facts are irrelevant.

Second, New York City has seen many bridges shut down in the last day due to protests of the grand jury decision in the Garner case.  The police are allowing these bridge closures to happen.  New York is a very congested city; on a good day, it take a long time to get around town due to traffic.  Because the main part of the city is on islands, the bridges are key choke points for traffic.  Closing any of them will cause traffic chaos.  Closing more than one of them causes massive traffic problems.  That means that by closing multiple bridges, the protesters put lives in jeopardy; people who needed the services of an ambulance must have found that they waited while the traffic kept help from arriving.  If a fire broke out, the fire engines also faced terrible traffic.  Is a robbery or an assault underway?  The police who might help were stuck in traffic.  Clearly, the protesters have a right to make their voices heard, but there is no need to disrupt the city and put all those people in jeopardy to do so.  Of course, the bridges could not have been shut down without the acquiescence of the mayor.  Mayor DiBlasio has been outspoken in his criticism of the police and the grand jury system for "failing" in the Garner case.  DiBlasio has been more interested in promoting racial grievances than in keeping the city running.  This is the sort of attitude that epitomizes the enduring stupidity of liberalism.
