Politico is reporting that Hillary Clinton addressed a group in Washington at the Brookings Institute and was asked about the current policies of president Obama towards Israel. This question was of particular importance given the discussions now underway in the administration about imposing sanctions on Israel for building homes for Jews in Jerusalem. The Politico article is headlined, "Hillary Sticks With Obama on Israel." It details that Mrs. Clinton left no daylight between herself and the administration policy concerning Israel.
I find this hard to understand. One would think that Clinton would not want to position herself as supporting sanctions imposed on an ally, particularly not one with such strong connections to so many Americans. Clinton could easily have avoided this issue as she has avoided most issues in the last two years. Instead, she went out of her way to move in lock step with Obama. (At least that is what Politico is reporting.)
