In a rather funny bit of news, the president of Smith college has been forced to apologize for daring to send out an email to all students that came under the reference: "All lives matter." In the twisted world of the far left college campus, the statement that all lives matter was viewed as racist by the activists who saw it as undermining the slogan "black lives matter." The email from Smith's president was sent in support of protest and to express outrage at the decisions of the grand juries in Missouri and New York. Because it did not single out "black lives" and follow the script of the political correctness of the moment, the email got a furious response.
The idea that anyone claiming to be interested in fundamental fairness could be upset at the statement that all lives matter is actually pretty funny. How dare Smith's president talk in terms of universal importance of each individual and human equality. That's racist! Right?
In many respects, the Smith president got what she deserves. Why is the president of the college sending a message to the university community on this subject? It really has nothing to do with Smith or its students. If the president thinks that she needs to bring politics to the campus community, then I am glad that the politics brought her major grief. Indeed, I personally think she ought to resign her position after the racist affront to the community evidenced by her email reference.
That's it! Let's start a movement seeking the ouster of president McCartney of Smith for what she did. Sent your emails to the board of trustees that govern Smith. Let them know just how outraged you are at what president McCartney said.
