Old Crisis, New Shadow

President Obama's big claim last night was that "the shadow of crisis has passed."  That seems an odd claim as the crisis of Islamic terrorism is growing larger each day in recent times.  I know that for Obama, the issue is not "Islamic" or "terrorism", but that is no comfort to those who are wounded or killed by the Islamic terrorists.  No matter what the terminology, however, we are now watching yet another part of our "victory" over terrorism collapse.  Not long ago, Obama cited Yemen as a success story in the battle against the jihadists.  At the moment, that success has ended.  The Shiite militia (supported by Iran) has overrun the presidential palace in Sana, the capital.  The forces of AQAP (as al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula is called) are battling the Shiites in places around the country.  The forces of the government are collapsing.  Yemen will soon be another Syria where Shiite theocratic terrorists battle Sunni theocratic terrorists.  It will be another terrorist state on the borders of Saudi Arabia.  It will be a major defeat for Obama and the USA.

The time has come to pay attention to the disaster in the Middle East.  I do not mean that we need another speech; we have had enough of those.  We need a strategy.  We need a real effort to stop the terrorists.  Obama's plan (to the extent he had one) has clearly not worked.
