I have not seen the new movie American Sniper. It is about a US soldier who goes for multiple tours of duty in Iraq during the war and is a sniper. I cannot tell you more about the movie except that I understand that it is a sympathetic portrait of the soldier (who is played by Bradley Cooper). The movie broke box office records for January when it opened wide over the last weekend.
The amazing thing about the movie is not the box office. No, it is the crazy response that the movie is getting from some of the loonier libs out there. For example, Michael Moore commented that snipers are basically evil cowards and not heroes. Seth Rogen tweeted that the movie seemed like a Nazi propaganda film. Are they kidding? Here is a soldier who went to Iraq to defend this country. He did the job he was given, and he did it very well. He could have left the service after his first tour in Iraq, but he stayed in and went back to fight again. He is an American hero, not a coward or a Nazi. The memory of this hero should not be stained by the nasty comments of two fat lefties whose idea of honor and duty is to try to get more publicity for their films. Moore had a few successes in the past, but nearly all of his recent efforts have failed in a big way; most likely, his comments about American Sniper are due in part to jealousy that it got a bigger audience last weekend than Moore's last three pictures during their entire run.
It's time that people paid attention to the garbage that these idiots spew. Let's all agree that we will never again go to see a movie with Seth Rogen in it or one made by Michael Moore. They can say what they want; it is their right. Nevertheless, they can also deal with the consequences of what they say.
