I was going to start this post by saying that the media hit a new low yesterday with the garbage it ran about a supposed call by Trump for the assassination of Hillary Clinton. Trump said that if she won, Clinton would appoint judges who would do away with the Second Amendment unless the Second Amendment folks do something about it. That was immediately twisted into a call for people with guns (the second amendment folks) to kill Hillary. It's not what Trump said, but when did that ever matter. It's terrible journalism and truly disgusting. But it's not new.
Steve Hayward at Powerline posted a reminder of the last time the media called out a presidential candidate for calling for the assassination of her opponent. The year was 2008 and the target then was Hillary Clinton who was staying in the race against Obama and telling crowds that "we all remember" when Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June of 1968. The media immediately twisted that into Hillary calling for the death of Obama.
Wouldn't it be nice if the race could be fought on real issues instead of the phone stuff the media makes up?
