Donald Trump is holding a rally in Connecticut. It's amazing to watch the local media and the national media too tell us that Trump is making a mistake because Connecticut is out of reach. They might be right, but I tend to doubt it. Certainly, no one would make Trump the favorite here. Still, I have to assume that there is a strategy being followed by Trump that justifies a rally in Connecticut.
Connecticut ought to be fertile ground for Trump. We have very high taxes and paltry economic growth. Every year many more people leave the state than move in. The Democrat governor Dan Malloy is under federal criminal investigation. Our junior senator Chris Murphy seems to spend 100% of his time on gun control or mental health; he seems not to care about the economic struggles of the people of this state. After eight years of Democrat rule in Washington and decades of liberal control of the state government, people ought to be saying "enough".
The real truth is that no one knows whether Trump is wasting time with this rally. He just may surprise people here.
