Here is a snippet taken from Donald Trump's speech yesterday in Wisconsin:
"The war on police must end, and it must end now. Our job is not to make life more comfortable for the rioter, or the robber, or the looter, or the violent disruptor, of which there are many. Our job is to make life more comfortable for the African-American parent who wants their kids to be able to safely — safely — walk the streets and walk to school. Or the senior citizen waiting for a bus. Or the young child walking home from school."
"My opponent, Hillary, would rather protect the offender than the victim."
Trump went on to talk about how Hillary's policies would harm the black community, not help it. He also outlined steps he would take that would help everyone.
I don't know if this message will make it through the all-out onslaught of the mainstream media to keep the focus away from anything that says the truth about Hillary, but if it does, it will resonate. Trump is not going to win a majority of black votes, but if he follows up on his speech yesterday with a continuing message that gets through to its intended audience, he could get 20% of that vote. That would be a game changer. If Mitt Romney had gotten 20% of the black vote in 2012, he would be president today.
More important than the election, however, is the point that for the first time in a long time we have a national Republican who has a different message from the Democrats for African Americans, a message that has merit. Trump deserves major credit for that.
