It's Been Quite a Day

It has been an extraordinary day.  I hardly know where to begin.

1.  President Obama was actually questioned about the IRS harrassment of Tea Party groups that sought tax exempt status.  (Just to be clear, these groups were clearly entitled to that status, but the IRS singled them out for "special" examination, which is another way of saying that the IRS harrassed them until they gave up.)  Obama's intial response was to claim that he actually had no knowledge of any of this until he heard the news reports on Friday.  In other words, he heard when America heard.

Now it is hard to imagine that the IRS made this practice public on Friday without so much as a heads up to the White House.  But let's assume for a moment that it is true.  We know that at least five different members of Congress and the Senate wrote to the IRS and the Secretary of the Treasury demanding a full investigation into this very harrassment of the Tea Party groups by the IRS.  Those letters span many months.  There have been countless articles in the press over the last two years discussing the IRS's impropoer tactics in dealing with the Tea Party and other conservative groups.  Only someone who is deaf, dumb and blind could have missed it, but Obama says that he had absolutely no idea about all of this until he heard it on the news Friday.

Since this is graduation season, I think we should award Obama an honorary BS for the statement.

2.  Obama was also questioned about Benghazi.  Here too, Obama claimed that there really was nothing to discuss.  Those email that show that the White House was right in the middle of changing the story on Benghazi from its being a terror attack to its being some sort of response to a youtube video.  In other words, those email show that the White House and the State Department perpetrated a lie on the American people.  But Obama says that there is nothing worth discussing.

Time to give Obama a second honorary BS in one day.

3.  We also learned today that the Obama Justice Department has been surveiling the phone lines of the Associated Press in Washington.  Obama has not yet had time to announce that he knew nothing about this and that it was done by some low level employees of the Justice Department acting on their own.  That will probably come tomorrow.  It will also be time for a third honorary BS.

4.  Changing subjects, we need to mention that Dr. Gosnell was convicted on multiple counts of murder in Philadelphia.  Good for the jury.  The life of an infant is no less sacred than the life of an adult, even if that infant was the intended victim of a late term abortion.
