Those Pesky Accusations of Interference

I just read another article from the mainstream media in which yet another liberal apologist for president Obama intones that it was both important and proper that the White House Counsel and Chief of Staff (supposedly) kept the misconduct of the IRS from Obama.  After all, we are told in sanctimonious terms, we cannot have the president know that the IRS was persecuting conservative groups and individuals because there was an ongoing investigation and there might be (gasp!) accusations of interference.

What utter nonsense!  All during Obama's time in office, he has called for investigations of each and every event that might prove embarassing so that his staff and he can tell us that they cannot comment on ongoing investigations.  We all know the game, but this one takes the ruse on step farther.  Now, not only must the White House hold any comments on an investigation, now the staff cannot tell the president about them.  And why exactly is that?  It is not that Obama might comment on what happened.  No, just telling Obama about the investigation might lead to "accusations of interference."  Remember, these babbling buffoons are not worried that the president might interfere with the investigation.  They know that would require presidential action, and they realize that this is Obama of whom we are speaking.  The chance of decisive presidential action is nil.  No, the media defense team are concerned about mere accusations that there was interference.

Let's suppose that they had actually told Obama (which seems certain to turn out to be true).  How is that interference with the investigation being done by the Inspector General?  Clearly, it is not.  Let's next suppose that Obama was surprised and upset by learning that the IRS was illegally harassing conservatives.  That is still no basis even for accusations of interference.  Now let's assume that Obama took the unlikely step of ordering a cessation of any ongoing efforts to single out the conservative groups and individuals by the IRS.  In other words, let's assume Obama actually took action to end criminal conduct at the IRS.  This is what the media says would give rise to accusations of interference.  Are they kidding?  It is preposterous.

Think of it this way.  Let's assume that the FBI and Homeland Security were not asleep and that they were actively investigating the Tsarnaev brothers last April.  Let's also assume that the Boston police had been notified of this investigation.  Now let's assume that a patrolman from Bostons police saw Tamarlan Tsarnaev put a backpack down at the Marathon and walk away.  In the world of the liberal media, the policeman could do nothing.  He could not prevent the crime that was about to take place.  He could not save the spectators and runners from death and dismemberment.  After all, if he did that, he might be accused of interfering with the ongoing investigation by the FBI.

The media wants to ignore the responsibility of the president to prevent wrongdoing by those who work for the federal government.  They want to treat Obama as someone who just stands on the sidelines and has no responsibilities at all.  The truth, however, is that Obama is President of the United States of America.  The job description for that position carries more obligations than to read the occasional speech off of a teleprompter and to play endless rounds of golf.  Obama knows that.  Obama's staff knows that.  The American people know that.  The only ones so ignorant that they choose to ignore this basic fact all seem to be in the main stream media.
