The scope of the illegal activities of the IRS continues to grow. Now we learn that a prominent Catholic professor who lives here in Connecticut was "audited" beginning in 2010 when she was writing about some Catholic Progressive groups that were financed by George Soros. The professor, Dr. Anne Hendershott, described in detail the positions being taken by the Progressive groups and how those positions were contrary to Catholic teachings. She also disclosed the financial arrangements between the Soros entities and these Progressive groups.
This was no ordinary audit. Only Dr. Hendershott was audited even though she filed jointly with her husband who brought in the bulk of the couple's income. Further, the focus of the audit by the IRS office in New Haven was the income received by Dr. Hendershott for her writing, a very small portion of her total income. Most important, the auditor demanded to know who was paying her and what their politics were.
It is a totally inappropriate audit question from the IRS to seek to find out the "politics" of those paying Dr. Hendershott. Nevertheless, the meaning of the question was totally clear. The IRS was threatening Dr. Hendershott for her own political views.
One can only wonder how many more people will come forward with statements about political audits run by the IRS to threaten and intimidate. It is not a coincidence that every one of the organizations the were harrassed and every one of the people who were audited were conservatives. It is not a coincidence that this pattern of criminal activity at the IRS happened not just in Cincinnati, but acorss the country. There is no way that such activity could have been carried out without direction from Washington. We already know that the Obama re-election campaign was involved with the IRS. It seems that it will be just a matter of time until the ties to the White House itself are uncovered. If that happens, the explosion that will follow will rival Watergate. Even a supine press will not save Obama at that point. The American people will not tolerate police state tactics being used by the feds.
