Discrimination in Schools -- When Will This Be Stopped?

Do you realize that there's a major amount of discrimination against Moslem students in our public schools that is being ignored?  I'm talking about government action that prevents observant Moslem students from participating in school lunch and school breakfast programs.

Let me explain.  Observant Moslems do not eat pork and certain other foods.  Those forbidden foods are called haram.  The allowed foods are called halal.  A school lunch program that serves hot dogs which include pork or even other meats which are not prepared in the required halal manner cannot be eaten by the Moslem students.  School breakfasts which often include ham, bacon or pork sausages would also be off limits to observant Moslem students.  Nevertheless, school systems across America serve these products despite the fact that this prevents Moslem students from participation in these food programs.

The same thing is true with regard to observant Jewish students who maintain the rule of only eating Kosher foods.

Why is it that the Justice Department has not started proceedings against school districts that serve pork products in the school cafeteria?  Clearly, it's Islamophobia.  Right?

I put forward this example because in many ways, it's like the law in North Carolina that bars students who identify as the opposite sex from using changing rooms, bathrooms and showers for that opposite sex.  The Justice Department now says that the law is blatant discrimination by the state.  Of course, that supposed blatant discrimination affects only a small number of students in the state, while the food served in the cafeteria affects every observant Moslem and Jew.  When it comes to food, the government is fine with serving food that is acceptable to the overwhelming majority of the students.  There is no reason why all those students have to forego pork products just because a few have religious objections to it.  When it comes to showers and locker rooms, however, the Justice Department thinks that the rights of the vast majority of students to privacy must be ignored.

For decades, the right to privacy has been used as a weapon to stop abortion, sodomy laws, and all manner of laws regarding sexual conduct.  Now, however, the privacy rights of the majority are to be trampled is a misguided effort to "protect" a few individuals who identify today as the opposite sex.

Without a doubt, there is no reason to stop serving pork in school cafeterias.  At most, the school programs should try to provide some selections which sill be acceptable to the Moslems and the Jews.  For the remainder of the students, there is no need for change.  Similarly, it would be find for schools to provide some alternate facilities for the transgendered students.  There is no need for the privacy of the rest of the students to be invaded.  Somehow, however, the Obamacrats cannot seem to understand this concept.  They want everyone to modify their behavior in this cause.  Well, then they ought to be consistent.  If Obama and company are really going to bat for common changing rooms and showers for both sexes, then they had better start moving towards preventing the heinous discrimination against Moslems and Jews that results from serving pork products in the cafeteria.
