Michael Isikoff (who is billed as the chief investigative reporter for Yahoo News) is out with a "shocking" report that will surely upset Donald Trump and his campaign. Okay, Isikoff is out with a report that makes an interesting comment about the Trump campaign and the American legal system. Despite the build up by Yahoo, it is neither shocking nor upsetting not embarrassing for Trump.
Here's the essence of the report. Trump uses Jones Day partner Don McGahn as his main lawyer for campaign matters. Jones Day has over 2000 attorneys working for the firm. A group of Jones Day attorneys do pro bono work helping Central Americans who came over the Mexican border seek asylum in the USA. That's it. Different attorneys at Jones Day work for clients who possible have different political agendas.
The truth is that this is a complete BS report. The political positions of a client are irrelevant to a law firm when accepting clients. Imagine a large law firm that only took Democrats or only Republicans as clients because otherwise they might represent folks with possibly different political agendas. It doesn't exist. Indeed, it might be both illegal and unethical for a lawyer to refuse to represent people who have different political views. Given that there are 2000 plus lawyers at Jones Day, it would also be impossible for the firm only to represent clients with whose political views the firm agrees.
The story is the usual trash that comes from the liberal media as they search for something that they can use against Trump. Indeed, Isikoff missed a big story line here. Jones Day is also the law firm where Megyn Kelly used to practice law years ago. So that means that Trump uses a law firm where Kelly used to work. Oh, the scandal! Okay seriously, does that fact actually interest anyone? I doubt it.
I think it's time that Yahoo get someone who understands what items merit investigation to be Yahoo's chief investigative correspondent.
