Yesterday, Hillary Clinton was "interviewed" by John Dickerson on Face the Nation. Actually, it would better described as Dickerson mentioning topics and Hillary then giving snipets of her stump speech in response. The most bizarre moment came when Dickerson brought up the FBI investigation and the word that the Bureau has now scheduled an interview of its own with Hillary in the next two weeks. Hillary did her usual tap dance in response. She said that she had announced last August that she would cooperate fully with the FBI and that she wanted her staff to also fully cooperate. Then she added that it was not really a criminal investigation by a "security review". Dickerson then moved on to the next topic.
I know that CBS News is rooting for a Clinton presidency. I also know that Dickerson himself is a fervent supporter of the Democrats and Hillary. But as a supposed journalist, how could Dickerson just let that statement by Hillary go? It was just about a week ago that Hillary told the USA that she had never been contacted by the FBI and that neither had her staff. That was a total lie. Hillary's main aides were interviewed by the FBI during the last three weeks. Without a doubt, Hillary knew that but she lied about it. Also, without a doubt, the FBI interview of Clinton herself was set before she told the country that no one had contacted her. She just lied on that score too. But Dickerson never asked her to explain why she lied. Indeed, Dickerson never even pointed out the previous lie.
CBS News does America no favors by using Face the Nation to purvey Hillary's lies rather than exposing those lies to the public.
