When Bill Clinton was president, he was known for having overnight guests stay in the Lincoln Bedroom in the White House in exchange for major contributions. It was rather tawdry to see the Democrats (who regularly denounce the influence of big money donors) selling access to the White House to those same donors. Of course, after Bill left office, he and Hillary found a new way to get big bucks from those seeking influence; they formed the Clinton Family "Foundation". It's a supposedly charitable organization that raises hundreds of millions of dollars which are tax deductible and then uses over 80% of the money to pay for what they call "administrative" expenses. In English, that means that the vast bulk of the cash raised went to support members of the Clinton political machine who were given titles at the Foundation. The administrative expenses also included over eight million dollars in one year for travel expenses that seem mostly for Hillary and Bill.
Now that Hillary is coming back as the nominee, the Democrats are adopting variants of these practices across the country. The New York Post reported today that the New York Democrat party (which is certainly no stranger to corruption) is selling access to politicians at the upcoming Democrat convention in Philadelphia. For a one hundred thousand dollar purchase price, a contributor gets access to all of the convention events including access to the various New York Democrats like the governor or the mayor of New York City. It's interesting that this contribution is more than the maximum allowed by law to be given to a candidate or to a political party except under very unusual circumstances.
So if Hillary were elected president, would she install a neon sign outside the White House that would say "No Vacancy" if the Lincoln Bedroom is being used?
