Isn't this What Don, Jr. Did?

Last April, Democrat Adam Schiff of the House Intelligence Committee was approached by two Russians who told Schiff that they had recordings of meetings where the Putin government agreed with the Trump representatives that Trump would end US sanctions against Russia in exchange for Putin agreeing not to release compromising photos that he had of President Trump.  Schiff was very interested in getting these recordings; he followed up with a number of phone calls with the Russians.  Then Schiff sent his staff to retrieve the recordings according to the instructions the Russians gave him.

A perceptive friend of mine said this morning that what Schiff did is about the same as what the President's son did when he met with that Russian lawyer in June of 2016, after he was promised the lawyer had dirt on Hillary Clinton.  If what Trump did was some sort of illegal collusion, then what Schiff did is just the same.

Of course, the two Russians who contacted Schiff turned out to be comedians who were punking Schiff.  And the Russian lawyer that Don, Jr. met with really had no dirt on Hillary but wanted to talk about adoption rules.  In that way too, the two events were similar.

Of course, there is one difference.  Don , Jr. realized in minutes that the Russian lawyer had nothing to offer.  Congressman Schiff, on the other hand, spend many phone calls with his Russian contacts and continued pursuing the matter in other ways as well.  I guess it just proves that Schiff is even dumber than he seems (and that is really dumb.)
