This morning, I looked at Real Clear Politics and saw two articles. The first was headlined that the GOP tax cut law could "turn Texas blue". The second said that the tax cut law had led to a surge of support for Trump among Republicans and Independents. One of these is very wrong.
The second article was based upon the polls taken by the Yougov organization. Their daily polling shows a significant increase in support for Trump among GOP voters as well as among independent voters. There was also a rise among Democrat voters, but not large enough to be statistically significant. The first article explained that as the full impact of the tax cuts is felt, people in Texas will realize how the cuts were just for the rich and the big corporations and then start to vote Democrat. Of course, there is a big problem with this first article. The tax cuts benefit the middle class in major ways, much more so than the wealthy. That means that the Texans will have to come to accept a lie in order to move towards the Democrats.
