New Indictments of Manafort and Gates

The special prosecutor has released new indictments of Paul Manafort and Richard Gates.  The indictments are for tax fraud, money laundering and bank fraud.  The indictments are interesting, but here's the key point:  nothing alleged in the indictments has anything to do with the Trump campaign or any possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia or even the 2016 election campaign.  Paul Manafort may or may not be a crook, but the special prosecutor has zilch with regard to the key issue he was supposed to be investigating:  Russian interference in the 2016 election and any collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians.

There's no doubt that the mainstream media will go crazy with these new indictments.  CNN will tell us about the "shocking and outrageous" allegations and try somehow to tie it to the President.  On MSNBC Rachel Maddow will, no doubt, run her whole show about these indictments and also try to tie them to the President.  It just won't work, however.

We have now gone about a year and a half with investigations being done by the Obama FBI and other Obama intelligence agencies, by Congress, and by the Special prosecutor.  After all that time and effort, however, there is still NO EVIDENCE of any collusion between the Russians and the Trump campaign.  Indeed, all that has been found is collusion between the Clinton campaign and the Russians to come up with the phony Trump dossier.  That's the same phony dossier that the FBI and DOJ used to trick the FISA court into allowing them to spy on the Trump campaign.

The indictments are not good news for Manafort and Gates.  For the country, however, these indictments show that once again, there is nothing to the Trump-Russia allegations.
