Poor Adam Schiff. For the last year, he was the toast of the mainstream media. He was on MSNBC almost as often as Rachel Maddow -- and she has her own show there. Day after day, Schiff was interviewed about the "shocking" collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign in 2016. Schiff kept promising that there was evidence of collusion, but somehow that evidence never surfaced. Schiff leaked all sorts of confidential information to the media. It certainly seemed as if he did not care at all if something was classified. If it could help advance the Democrats/media assault on Trump, Schiff voiced it. The congressman was in Schiff heaven.
Then a few months back, thing began to change. After a long battle with Fusion GPS, the congressional committee of which Schiff is the ranking member got the information that showed that the Trump Dossier had been paid for by the Clinton campaign and the Democrat National Committee. The Trump Dossier was the main reason for the Trump-Russia investigation. Schiff battled mightily to stop that information from being obtained or released, but he lost. Suddenly, America learned that the whole Trump-Russia investigation might be nothing more than a dirty trick by the Clintons and the DNC.
What was Schiff to do? There was no surprise; Schiff "schiffted" his storyline. He stopped promising evidence of Trump-Russia collusion (that never appeared). Instead, Schiff began talking about obstruction of justice. Now, the big story was that President Trump had tried to block the investigation into a non-existent crime that was driven by a Clinton-DNC dirty trick. Oh, the horror of it all! Schiff was back on CNN and MSNBC, and he opined at great length on all the supposed wrongdoing by the White House. But like the evidence of Trump-Russia collusion, the supposed evidence of obstruction of justice never appeared. Just consider the most recent attempt to pin obstruction on the White House. Communications Director Hope Hicks reportedly was talking to some people on Air Force One about what to say to the press about the Trump Tower meeting that the President's son held with a Russian lawyer. The New York Times reported that Ms. Hicks said that (gasp!) the emails from before the meeting would never come out. OBSTRUCTION!!! OBSTRUCTION!! Of course, those emails were already in the possession of the White House attorneys, and Hope Hicks could not direct those lawyers what to do. Further, discussing what to say and what not to say to the media has nothing to do with justice or obstruction of justice for that matter. On top of all that, Hicks' attorney announced that his client never said what the Times claims she said. In other words, this was the proverbial "nothing burger". Schiff, however, spoke at length about the implications of what Hicks had reportedly said (even though she didn't).
But now we see Schiff's coup de grace. Amazingly, he inflicted it upon himself. Prior to the release of the Intelligence Committee's memo regarding the wrong doing by the FBI and DOJ before the FISA court, Schiff went into overdrive to oppose the release. Schiff was on every show and in every paper claiming that the memo would reveal sources and methods and endanger national security. The cacophony of condemnation led by Schiff in the media was like some atonal symphony of discordant disdain for the Republican majority on the committee. Then the memo was released. It has nothing in it that reveals sources and methods. It just factually reveals some serious wrongdoing at the Obama FBI and DOJ. It shows that the leaders of the FBI like Comey and McCabe participated in getting the bureau to spy on the Trump campaign during the election and then on the Trump transition team after Trump won. It shows that Comey and McCabe knowingly presented dishonest and unverified materials to the FISA court despite their high legal obligations to be honest in their dealings with that court. Schiff's characterization of the memo was a total lie. That's bad enough, but it was a total lie that anyone who read the memo could see.
Schiff hasn't given up. Now he's telling the world that the memo "cherry picked" only some facts to present. Of course, he doesn't tell us what are the facts that were omitted. My guess is that they are the same facts that constitute the "evidence" of Trump-Russia collusion.
The truth has become patently obvious. Adam Schiff is a liar. Nothing Adam Schiff says can be trusted. He is motivated by partisan hatred for President Trump. Fortunately for the USA, Schiff's true nature has been revealed. (Sorry for using the word "true" in the same sentence as Schiff.)
