Why Is Anyone Surprised?

There's a stir being caused by a recent article in the Wall Street Journal that repeated the story of a dinner held in about 4 years ago by the president of Iran when he came to New York for a UN meeting.  Those in attendance at the small dinner party included Louis Farrakhan, Keith Ellison and Gregory Meeks.  For those who don't know, Farrakhan is the racist and anti-Semitic head of the Nation of Islam (aka the Black Muslims).  Ellison is a congressman from Minnesota and also the deputy chairman of the Democrat National Committee.  Meeks is another Democrat congressman and a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

The key here is Ellison, the first Muslim member of Congress.  Prior to his election, Ellison was a supporter of Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam.  When he ran for Congress, however, Ellison said that he had severed ties with the Black Muslims long ago.  That, of course, seems not to be true.  More important than the ties between the second in command at the DNC and an avowed racist and anti-Semite, however, is the fact that Ellison was meeting privately with the head of the Iranian government.  President Rouhani of Iran is someone who often leads chants of "death to America", but the Democrat leader seems to have no problem holding private meetings with him.  Just imagine if a Republican had held a meeting of this sort with Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia.  It would be at least a month of non-stop coverage on CNN and MSNBC about what they would call obvious proof of collusion between Trump and Russia.  But, of course, there were no such meetings with Putin.  There was, however, that sort of meeting between these Democrats and the president of the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism which is still developing nuclear weapons.

There's very little reaction in the mainstream media to this story.  That's not a surprise since the mainstream media avoids stories that might damage Democrats.  Still, it ought not be ignored.  It says a lot about who is running the Democrat party.
