The Senate is voting this afternoon on a measure that would reduce debate from 30 hours to 2 hours after a cloture vote on lower level nominations. This would put an end to the endless filibusters of the Dems against the nominations of district court judges and assistant and under secretaries of this or that. For the last two years, the Dems have done all that they can to stall the approval of every Trump nominee. As a result, they have brought this upon themselves. The vote today is the first attempt; it will fail because it needs 60 votes to pass. Tomorrow or Thursday, there will be a second vote which will pass because only 50 votes will be required.
In the next month or two, we are likely to see 50 or so new federal judges approved. It's about time.
