1. The best measure of the conditions in the USA is the number of people hospitalized for treatment of the virus. New cases testing positive gets inflated due to the huge increases in the numbers tested. Deaths don't get reported right away in every state, so the figures get distorted. Also people who have been on ventilators for six weeks are still dying and that hardly tells us of current conditions. Right now, however, the number of people in hospitals being treated has been declining since July 25, or 12 days ago. These are based upon seven day averages of people in hospitals. The decline during that time has bee 14%.
2. Even the number of new cases has been declining for the last two weeks (on a seven day average). That decline during the two weeks has been about 24%.
There are still too many cases of viral infections. Nevertheless, the constant scare tactics of the media which falsely claims things are getting worse are disgusting.
