For the last few years, but especially for the last few months, America's historical figures have been under attack because they had ties to slavery. Thomas Jefferson who wrote the Declaration of Independence can't be celebrated (or so the left argues) because he owned slaves. It does not matter that he freed them; it only matters that he owned slaves at one time. George Washington also owned slaves, so his exploits as this nation's first leader mean nothing, or so we are told. Indeed, for the left, the entire history of the USA is evil because of the ownership of slaves by some at the start of the republic. Any connection with slavery is toxic!
So now Biden picks Kamala Harris as his VP candidate. On her father's side, Kamala Harris is descended from a prominent Jamaican slave owner and slave trader. He didn't just farm his plantation with slaves, he bought and sold slaves as his basic business. And he was white too. And despite that clear connection of Harris with the slave trade, we haven't heard a peep out of the left. It seems that so long as the slave connections are by Democrats, they don't matter.
Think back on the late senator Byrd. He was the leader of the senate Democrats. Oh, and he was also the leader of the Ku Klux Klan in his state. It didn't matter; Byrd got a total pass. So what if he led a virulently racist organization? The media and the Dems just ignored it. But if a Republican congressman spoke at an event that was partially sponsored by a much less racist organization than the Klan, he was nearly crucified.
Black people can't be fooled by this nonsense. The Democrats don't care about racism. They only care about power and getting the black votes that keep them in power.
