Climate Change and Corona Virus

There's a tropical storm/hurricane coming to Florida, North Carolina and even the Northeast in the next few days.  Before that we had an almost two week heat wave that caused sweltering conditions in the Northeast.  In the past, these two events would have caused a series of articles to appear in the mainstream media about how it was all due to global warming.  Maybe I missed them, but I haven't seen any such articles this year.  And there's a good reason why:  corona virus.

Let me explain.  For the last five months, the number of cars on the roads, planes in the sky, and even factories churning out products has dropped dramatically.  With only 30% of the traffic at most, there is only about 30% of the carbon emissions.  Plane travel is down about 85%.  Factories were closed for months too cutting emissions further.  And remember, these reductions weren't in just the USA.  The reductions in carbon emissions were worldwide.  China and India which are the biggest source of carbon emissions were both shut down for much of this time.  That should have reduced the level of green house gases by a great deal.  But you know what?  Weather and the climate really haven't changed.  If there really is a true cause and effect relationship between human carbon emissions and global temperatures (and weather and climate), this huge reduction in emissions should have led to some rapid cooling.  It did not.

There should be a thorough investigation of how, if at all, the vast drop in carbon emissions has modified global temperatures.  If we cut emissions by more than half (and we did) and there was NO effect on the temperatures, then it should tell us that schemes like the Green New Deal  that would cut emissions by less than resulted from the virus will NOT work.
