The supposed frontrunner for Joe Biden's VP pick has been congressman Bass of California. Well, maybe not anymore. First, video surfaced of Bass praising the Church of Scientology a few years ago. That won't play very well with many who know what Scientology stands for. Perhaps even more important, though, is Bass's copious praise for Fidel Castro over the years. She even went to Cuba in the 1970's to show solidarity with the Cuban revolution. She extolled Castro upon his death a few years ago. That is going to play very poorly in Florida where there are nearly one million Cuban voters who basically hate the Castro regime. Biden might well be losing Florida if he chooses Bass.
Bass's rise to the front of the pack was quick and her decline seems quick too. Clealy, she couldn't have been vetted very well if the Biden camp didn't know about the Cuba stuff.
My prediction remains that Biden will pick Ruth Bader Ginsburg because she won't be running for president due to her very poor health. Indeed, Ginsburg will make Biden look young and vigorous by comparison.
It's too bad that the VP has to be living. Otherwise Biden could choose someone who's already dead to make himself look good.
