Disgusting Distortion and Unacceptable Language

Suppose I wrote I column discussing how America would be better off were president Obama to die?  Clearly, that would be going too far for any rational person.  Indeed, I might even get a visit from the Secret Service and, in my opinion, that would be quite appropriate.  Political discussion is supposed to be kept civil.  Oh, you can point out if someone is lying, mistaken, venal or even criminal, if appropriate.  But wishing for someone's death?  It is disgusting; there is no other word for it.

Roger Simon is the chief political columnist of Politico.  For those of you who do not know, Politico is a now prominent left-leaning website that focuses on politics.  Simon's latest column starts by explaining how America would win if senator Cruz and speaker Boehner were to drown.  Really!  A well known Washington columnist (okay, a somewhat-known) writes about how beneficial for the country the death of a senator and congressman would be.  Simon is a slimeball.  He ought to be fired.  Of course, in our media, he will probably get a raise.

In the same column, Simon goes on to call the veterans who gathered in Washington over the weekend to protest the closing of the WW II memorial and other similar sites "racists".  And what is his evidence of racism?  One of the tens of thousands of people who showed up to the march was holding a Confederate flag and waved it in front of the home of a black family (he means the White House).  Get it?  That one flag means that everyone at the rally was a racist.  Maybe Simon wants all of them dead too.

In the last month, those who oppose president Obama and the Obamacrats have been called terrorists, racists, criminals, extortionists, jihadists, and wife beaters.  Now, the leftist media is publishing calls for the deaths of the leaders of the opposition.  It is terrible.

Look, anyone who reads this site knows what my sentiments are with regard to Obama and the current disputes in Washington.  I also accept that there are many who have exactly the opposite opinion.  The genius of America has always been that we can have folks with diametrically opposite opinions who can still work together for the good of the country.  That seems to be disappearing at the moment.  The left is unleashing something that most likely will swallow up the country and destroy something that it has taken centuries to build.  They need to stop.
