No Wonder

Earlier today, I posted the amazing claim by the White House that president Obama has been open to negotiations all along and I also listed just a few of the news stories showing that this claim was preposterous.  Now, however, there is a strong indication of just why the White House has blinked.  The Rasmussen poll of generic congressional candidates was released today.  The poll showed that the voters are evenly split between voting for Republican and Democrat candidates.  The same pll last week showed the Democrats with a lead of 4%.  Indeed, during the end of September, when the public was being fed a steady diet of stories saying that the GOP wanted to shut down the government, generic congressional polls moved to the point that the Democrats were as much as 9% ahead in some.  What has happened now is that the public has seen the GOP pass bills to fund key sections of the government at the same time that Obama and his people have been busy trying to keep veterans away from open air memorials and shutting cancer patients out of the NIH.  The conduct of the Democrats is coming back to bite them in the behind.  Obama is suddenly claiming that he was always open to negotiations because he understands that his polling numbers are tanking.
