Let's Not Forget Photo ID's

I was reminded this past week once again of the ridiculous nature of the campaign against the requirement to have a photo identification in order to vote.  President Obama has unleashed Eric Holder and the Department of Justice to spend millions of dollars to try to force states like Texas and North Carolina to drop photo ID requirements for voting.  The existence of similar requirements in 32 other states does not matter to Obama and Holder.  America is told that these requirements are racist and designed to suppress minority voting.

What happened to me, however, had nothing to do with voting.  All I did was go to a new doctor who sent me to get x-rays taken at a radiology lab in the same building as the doctor's office.  Both at the doctor's office and the x-ray lab I was asked to produce a photo ID.  Indeed, in the state of Connecticut, any patient is required to show a government issued photo identification card (like a driver's license) as a measure to combat insurance fraud.  I asked at both place what would have happened if I did not have identification.  I was told twice that the doctor would not be able to see me if I did not have the needed identification.

It is worth noting that Connecticut has had a lop-sided Democrat majority in the legislature for a very long time.  Does that mean that the Connecticut Democrat party is racist?  Are they trying to suppress minority medical care with this heinous voter ID law?  Is the photo ID requirement for medical care really just a cover to force minorities to leave the state so that they will be able to see a doctor?  Where are the liberal media and the demonstrators in Hartford protesting this incredible assault on the American system?

Look, voting is an important right.  No one should be denied the chance to vote so long as they meet the qualifications.  Nevertheless, the ability to get medical care is a lot more important than the right to vote.  Being prevented from voting will not kill a person, but not being able to see a doctor well might.  Some day, I would like to hear Eric Holder or Obama explain how it is possible that photo ID's can be required to see a doctor but needing the same card in order to vote is racist, bigoted, and anti-democratic.
