The Misinformation Flows Out To The Public

I just watched a news report that proclaimed that despite problems with the federal Obamacare exchange, about half a million people have "signed up for insurance" thus far.  This is totally wrong.

1.  There have been just under half a million people who gave their information to both the state and federal websites so that they could see the available insurance policies.  This figure has nothing to do with the number who signed up for insurance.

2.  The government is refusing to disclose the number of policies actually sold.  Indeed, the Obama administration clearly hopes that more phony reports like the one I am discussing will lead people to think that things are not as bad as they really are.

3.  The other day, Delaware got its first, FIRST, person who bought insurance on the exchanges.  A survey of insurers in North Dakota found that two policies had been sold in that state.  Numbers in Wisconsin were about 50 policies sold.  There are no reliable figures for the other states as of yet that have been given to the public.

The truth is that the federal website which serves two thirds of the states is a disaster.  Only a tiny minority (like 1%) of those visiting the site have actually opened an account which would let them see the available insurance products.  The others have just left without providing their personal information.  Of those who opened accounts, only a few have purchased insurance (assuming that the rates seen in the three states for which figures are available are good indicators of the rest of the country.)

I realize that much of the mainstream media loves Obama and Obamacare.  Nevertheless, it is beyond contempt that the media is out there telling lies about the failure of the exchanges.  Even worse is the idea that the media does not even understand how big of a disaster the failure of the exchanges actually is.
