Obamacare, that's the main subject of the news at the moment. It is a fiasco, a disaster. After years to get ready and spending more by far on a website than anyone else in history, the federal government has produced a website that just does not work. One would think that there would be incredible interest at the White House in making this work. But when you take Obamacare and the reaction to the failed website apart, all that is revealed is that the name is backwards. It is not Obamacare, it is instead "Obama doesn't care".
Think about it. His signature accomplishment is collapsing before the eyes of the nation. In the past, other presidents would have struggles mightily to remedy the situation. Men as different as Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter would each have involved himself in the details of the corrective work. No, I don't mean that they would have gotten involved with the programming. They would have had someone new appointed to resurrect the website. They would have been focusing on damage control. They would know the status of repairs and shared that status with the American people. That is not the case with Obama. He just seems not to care. After all, he is out campaigning across America on the topic of immigration reform. IMMIGRATION REFORM!!!!!
There is a great ad running on radio in New York in which a man ignores the fact that his hair is on fire. That sounds unlikely to say the least, but in many ways, it is exactly what Obama is doing at the moment. How better to convince the American people that he is a total incompetent than to ignore his basic responsibility to try to get the government to work? How better to show that he does not seem to even understand the full extent of the disaster that has befallen Obamacare and Obama himself? Is Obama delusional? Does he truly think everything is okay?
Right now, Obamacare has cost more people their insurance coverage than have signed up for new policies. Obama doesn't care. Right now, the price of insurance for all Americans has soared due to Obamacare. Obama doesn't care. Right now, the American economy is being hobbled by the burdens and uncertainties of Obamacare. Obama doesn't care.
It makes me wonder what, indeed, Obama does care about. The truth is that our president cares only about what he says and about his own image. For Obama, that is reality. Unfortunately for the rest of us, we have to live in the actual reality, and that reality is much harsher because we have a president who just does not care.
