Some old habits die slowly. At NBC, the practice of never ever criticizing president Obama is one of those habits. Yesterday, I wrote about a piece from NBC News that surprisingly pointed out that president Obama knew for over three years that the vast majority of insurance plans would be cancelled once Obamacare went into effect, so his repeated promise to Americans that they could keep their plans if they like them was a total lie. To read something like that coming from NBC News was a big event.
Well, later yesterday, NBC News took down the story. Then, after some outcry, NBC posted the story once more, but it omitted a key paragraph which made clear that Obama knew for years that his promise was false. Only after more outcry across the web did NBC finally give up and put the original story back on line.
The truth is that this is too big a story for NBC to be able to keep it under wraps. Millions of Americans are going to suffer the loss of policies that Obama promised could be kept.
I wonder what NBC will do moving forwards.
