The Perfect Additions To The Race

In the last day, there have been two more people adding their names to the list of Democrats seeking that party's 2020 nomination.  The first is California congressman Eric Swalwell, a fixture on CNN and MSNBC where he has spent the last two years discussing the "obvious" collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia in 2016.  Swalwell should have nothing left to say after the Mueller Report aside from "sorry," but instead he's decided to move on to try to stay on TV by running for the Oval Office.  It won't work.  Swalwell is just another run of the mill congressman who comes across more like and angry teenager than and adult.  That may play well with the very far left millennial portion of the Democrat base, but they have others who fill the bill.  No rational voter could actually like Swalwell.  The only question with his candidacy is the date on which he suspends his effort.

The second new candidate is former Alaska senator Mike Gravel.  This guy who at 88 is even older than Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden says he doesn't want to win.  He just wants to do well enough to get into the debates so that he can "force" the party further left.  Really, Gravel thinks that the Democrat candidates as a group are insufficiently leftist.  Of course, Gravel probably also thinks that Karl Marx is insufficiently leftist and that the Pope isn't Catholic enough.

With additions like these two to the race, I'm left wondering who will come next.  Will we get a guy or a woman in a mask who runs as "Candidate X, the masked candidate"?  Maybe the winner of the Jeopardy tournament of champions could run on the platform that while he or she knows nothing about being president, they do know a lot of trivia.  Those two would be a step up from Swalwell and Gravel.

What about Alec Baldwin. He is thinking about running. Who will write his dialogue?

Hey, if Baldwin runs, he could attend the debates in his Donald Trump costume and makeup from SNL. Then it wouldn't matter what he said.
