Changing The Subject

Over the weekend, president George W. Bush spoke to a private gathering in Las Vegas and had some criticisms of the foreign policy of president Obama regarding the Middle East including specifically Iran, Iraq and ISIS.  Someone at the meeting wrote down Bush's remarks and reported them to the press.  Now the White House spokesman is responding to what Bush had to say.  How stupid is this?

We have private remarks that get put in the press and then Obama's spokesman responds?  For seven years, Bush has remained silent in public about what Obama has been doing.  That does not change when Bush speaks to a private group.  Do we really want to bring this sort of dispute back into the middle of public discourse?

Wait, I bet some of the people in the media do want this to turn into a big story.  How better to get the focus off Hillary Clinton and the misdeeds of the Clinton Foundation.  The media can talk about a non-existent fight between Bush and Obama rather than discuss what looks like the Clintons doing favors for those who paid hundreds of millions of dollars in "donations".  It's just changing the subject!
