Happy Anniversary

Wednesday will be the 100th anniversary of the first use of chemical weapons during World War I.  The German forces sent a cloud of chlorine gas towards the British and French lines in Flanders.  The allied soldiers were taken by surprise and large numbers were injured or died.  During the rest of World War I, both sides in the conflict used gas as a weapon with about one million people losing their lives as a result.

Here we are 100 years later and the same chemical weapons are still in use.  The Syrian regime of Bashir al Assad, supported by Iranian and Hezbollah forces, is using chlorine gas on civilian and military positions of their adversaries in northern Syria.  This is the same Syrian regime that supposedly gave up all its chemical weapons in a deal with the USA and Russia.  At least that is what president Obama told the world.  The reality, however, is much different from the lies that came from Obama.

Over the weekend, 60 Minutes broadcast video of a chemical attack inside Syria from a few years back.  That attack was made with sarin gas, a nerve agent.  Of course, the CBS News report did not mention president Obama's red line against the use of chemical weapons by Syria or the phony agreement which followed so that Obama could save face.  Amazingly, CBS did not even make clear that Assad and his Iranian allies are still dropping gas on their opponents.

It's hard to decide which is the worst:  Assad using the gas; Obama ignoring the use of the gas: or the mainstream media covering up this story.
