The Harbinger of Doom

I just saw something that says that Hillary Clinton's days as the inevitable Democrat nominee are over.  There is a column at Bloomberg News by Margaret Carlson which chronicles the failure of Clinton's campaign and its imminent collapse.  To be fair, the column is two days old, but I just saw it.  Normally, I don't go to Bloomberg to look at opinion columnists; I can just check the DNC website to get the same thing.  And even among those who write for Bloomberg, Margaret Carlson would be described and a loyal Democrat.  She has parroted the party's talking points for many years.

That is why this column blasting Hillary Clinton is so important.  We've gotten to the point where the SS Hillary is listing so badly that even the crew is abandoning ship.  Hillary is losing the built in media constituency for the Democrats.  It's a blow from which no Democrat is likely to recover.

Just look at the column.  Carlson derides the expected response from the Clinton campaign that this is all a vast right wing conspiracy attack.  In the old days, Carlson would be right there telling America (or her fifteen readers) that indeed, these were attacks by a cabal of right wingers most likely tied to the Koch brothers or Karl Rove.  Today, that chorus which previously amplified and dignified that silly counterattack is not only not supporting the move but ridiculing it.

Things change, particularly in politics.  Nevertheless, this column is a harbinger of doom for Hillary's dream of becoming president.
