A half hour ago, AP released a story headlined, "Democrats Declare Swamp of Congressional Corruption Drained". The story details how the Democrats are now saying that the charges against Rangel and Waters are proof that the swamp has been drained.
If this were a satire, I might not mind the headline. It is not satire, however. some dufus at the AP has written a headline that the Democrats have stopped corruption when, for the first time in history, two members are simultaneously facing hearing before the Ethics committee for wrongdoing, and coincidently the two members are both high ranking Democrats. One (Rangel) is charged with what the AP calls "delayed" payment of income taxes, among other things. In English, "delayed" payment means that Rangel did not pay tax on hundreds of thousands of dollars of income until he got caught. At that point he made "late" payment. for anyone other than a high ranking Democratic congressman, such "late" payment would have led to charges of tax evasion and perhaps jail time.
Maybe next, Nancy Pelosi will tell us that we have to have corrupt Democrats in the House just to make sure that her swamp draining mechanisms are working.
