A good decision by Governor Rell

News is out this morning that governor Rell is going to buy another 80 new railcars for the New Haven line of metro North. That is a great decision. The state had already ordered 300 cars which are about to begin construction. Adding another 80 at this time will make the cars much less expensive than they would be if ordered after the assembly line were shut down. The cars currently in use on Metro North are all approaching 40 years of age. The new cars will improve comfort, safety and reliability for the line. They are essential to keeping good public transport alive in the state.

Kudos to the Governor.
