A Tour of the Mainstream

With the hearings about Benghazi going forward today in Washington, I got to wondering how the media was covering the event.  I just checked the websites of CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN and Fox News.  Here is what I found:

Fox News had extensive coverage.

ABC had no coverage except with regard to whether or not the head of the Independent Review Board of the State Department had really refused to testify.  In other words, ABC said nothing, NOTHING, about the testimony of the witnesses today.

CBS also had essentially no coverage of the hearings.

MSNBC covered the hearings and described them as a Republican led attack on the Obama administration.

CNN seems interested only in the woman discovered in Cleveland.

The hearings produced a great deal of news and new information.  For the first time, America got to hear from people actually involved in dealing in Libya with the Benghazi attacks.  I listened to most of the testimony and now understand what happened there much better.  It is not a pretty picture.  It is incomprehensible why the number of marines guarding the Benghazi consulate were cut so low, particularly in a place like Libya and on 9-11 to boot.  It is also incomprehensible how the order could have been given to prevent assistance from being sent to Benghazi from elsewhere.  Lastly, we now have first hand testimony that Secretary of State Clinton had first hand knowledge by 9 o'clock Eastern time on September 11th that this had been a terrorist attack.  That means that Clinton knew that the talking points given to Susan Rice were lies.  That means that Clinton's own statements about the video being to blame were also lies.  In short, it shows that Clinton is not a slave to the truth.

The story deserves better coverage.

UPDATE:  AT 5:00, CNN finally has a story about the hearings.  Given the testimony, the network had no choice.
