Looking At The World That Doesn't Exist

This morning, I was reading a piece by ultra-liberal Peter Beinart in The Atlantic entitled "ISIS Is Not Waging a War Against Western Civilization -- A Primer For Marco Rubio."  It's the clearest example I have found in which reality is ignored and a spokesman for the left "explains" just who ISIS is and what it really wants.  In other words, it's a phony construct that spews ideology but ignores the facts.

You can read Beinart's column if you have the stomach for such nonsense, but all that you really need to know is this:  Beinart blames the Paris attacks on the USA.  He uses a long chain of logic to get to that tortured conclusion, but he gets there nevertheless.

Beinart starts out criticizing Marco Rubio's statement in which Rubio says that the attacks in Paris are an attack on Western civilization.  They are attacking the West because of our values, not because we have military assets in the Middle East.  First, Beinart says that Rubio is actually saying that the West is at war with Islam, not just ISIS.  Rubio, of course, says no such thing, but Beinart's phony construct lets him convert our defending ourselves from attack into some sort of racist religious war.  Beinart then "explains" that ISIS only exists because the USA invaded Iraq over a decade ago, another phony statement.

Now Beinart can say what he wants, even if it is ideological propaganda rather than actual truth.  We have free speech in the USA.  It's one of those values that Beinart says is irrelevant to ISIS's goals.  The key, however, is that we cannot let Beinart and those like him in the media (and there are many) define reality for the people who casually read their work.  The actual reality is that Rubio is completely correct.  ISIS is attacking because they want to convert the world into one ruled by their caliphate under their interpretation of Sharia law.  Although Beinart ignores that claim as irrelevant, we know that this is the goal of ISIS in a simple way:  THEY TOLD US!  In fact, ISIS has made clear from the first day of its existence that its goal was establishment of a worldwide caliphate, a state existing and run under ISIS's version of Islam.

Hey Beinart!  It does get more "clash of civilizations" than that.  It's time for people like Beinart to be rejected as the fools they so clearly are.
