At Harvard Law School overnight, someone took black tape that had been place on the school crest in one of the buildings and moved the tape instead across the faces of certain of the black professors who have taught at the school. (There are portraits of all professors lining the hall.) No one knows who did this or why.
Not wanting to wait, the taping was instantly proclaimed a "hate crime" that demonstrates the racism at Harvard Law School. Here is how one second year student put it:
"To this day, the Royall family crest is the seal for Harvard Law School, and their legacy of white supremacy drips from every corner of the campus, like the blood of the 77 enslaved people murdered after a slave revolt on the Royall plantation. The defacing of the portraits of black professors this morning is a further reminder that white supremacy built this place, is the foundation of this place, and that we never have and still do not belong here."
It's truly amusing. White supremacy "drips from every corner of the campus"? Is she kidding? Sadly, I don't think so. From the way this student puts it, however, you would expect that there are meetings of the KKK each week at Harvard Law School, the cafeterias must be segregated and seating in class puts whites in front and blacks in the rear. The reality, of course, is something quite different. There is no white supremacy at HLS. Anyone who perceives white supremacy as the "foundation" of HLS is more in need of psychiatric evaluation that anything else.
Listen, I graduated from Harvard Law School long ago. Back then, there was no white supremacy, and it didn't return since then.
One thing that is actually pretty funny though is this: Harvard Law School is one of those institutions that spreads liberal dogma far and wide across the country. It's nice to see the purveyors of this dogma being attacked for inadequate fealty to the cult of safe spaces and imagined sleights as a basis for action. Maybe, just maybe, some of the faculty will realize just how idiotic most of their dogma is.
