Just a few hours before the Paris attacks, president Obama told the world that ISIS had been "contained". That statement was exposed as not just wrong, but delusional when more than a hundred people were killed in a series of coordinated attacks in the French capital. Today, Obama tried to change what he had said a few days ago; now, containment was only in Syria and Iraq, so the attacks in Egypt, Lebanon and France were to be disregarded. It was the typical weak and dishonest response from a man who does not understand the concept of either taking responsibility for what he actually said or, more important, leading the nation he was elected to govern.
Fortunately, there are now some senior Democrats who are pointing out the complete idiocy of Obama's position. One is California Democrat senator Dianne Feinstein, who is the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee. That means that she gets to read all those briefings that the CIA and other agencies put together regarding actual events around the world. Feinstein was interviewed today by Andrea Mitchell and said the following:
“I’ve never been more concerned. I read the intelligence faithfully. ISIL is not contained. ISIL is expanding.”
Senator Feinstein also stated that Americans cannot disregard the threat to the USA, despite statements by officials that there is nothing to worry about. “I don’t think we can be credible with that,” Feinstein said. “They are on a march. I think we have to recognize this."
I hope more Democrats come forward to accept reality. They may have a president who is delusional and a 2016 candidate who won't even call ISIS "Islamic", but we have to survive as a nation nevertheless. Only if more voices on all sides point out reality will have a chance to stay safe.
